Planning:Mise En Scene

  MISE EN SCENE
Lighting:
My group will use low key lighting when ever there is a very intense moment for example when the teenage girl is being followed through the park. We will use this to create exceeding levels of suspense leaving questions unanswered. It suits the mood of our scene because the audience is anxious to know who is following her or what might happen to her.
Setting:
We will have two main locations.
1) FOREST: we will use this because typical thrillers happen in isolated areas where no one can here them while crying out for help or screaming.
2) Bathroom: A bathroom is used when your alone so it can relate to the audience because next time their in their bathroom they will remember the thriller for that specific moment.
Iconography:
There are only two piece of main iconography.
1)Doll: The doll will be shown near the end of the park scene when the teenage girl finds it by her feet as she falls. The doll is also shown in the home videos so that there is a link with the girl and the doll.

2)Car: in one of the home videos we see the teenage girl receiving a car however we hear that a little girl was ran over by a car. the audience can link the car with the girl as to why its an important piece of  iconography.
Costume:
I will use typical costume that would be seen in a thriller. For example the female victim will wear light and innocent colours such as peach, white or yellow that represent her personality. On the other hand the antagonist will be dressed differently to the typical costume that would be seen because we want to confuse the audience making them believe the little girl is innocent but shes dark and evil when exposed.
Hair & Make up:  The little girls make up in the home videos will be natural and her hair will be out and look very young with a purple hair band and a pink cardigan. However when she is shown as a ghost Chardelle the make up artist will give a her a pale face with dark eyes to make her look evil. And her hair will be crazy and wild sticking up.
Body language and facial expression:
The actors my team have chosen have been seen acting before and we observed that they can carry out certain body languages and facial expressions which can have an effect on the audience. Both characters will have happy facial expressions in the beginning scene of the home videos to show the contrast of how quickly things change. In the park scene the teenage girl will have vulnerable body language showing shes scared so she will look sad and terrified within the face.

  1. A good start in planning the MES within your thriller opening, some choices have been discussed.

    To improve;
-also mention hair and make-up when you discuss costume of characters
-body langauge and facial expressions of your younger character
-provide an image for lighting, location and iconography that you will be using
